Dental bridges are usually used to replace one or two missing teeth. They can be made to look very similar to natural teeth. Much like a real-life bridge, dental bridges have a tooth replacement sitting over the gap, and are anchored onto one or both teeth on either side of the gap.
The most common dental bridges are:
- Conventional bridge – anchored onto the adjacent tooth/teeth with a dental crown. This is a good option if the anchored tooth requires a dental crown for protection.
- Resin-bonded bridge – a minimally invasive option that predominantly relies on the glue (cement).
Dental bridges can be fabricated in the same timeframe as a dental crown – usually several weeks by our local dental laboratories and ceramists. The anchored teeth will require extra hygiene measures to prevent premature failure from gum disease, tooth decay, and fracture. At Parade Dental Ocean Grove, we can help tailor-make a hygiene plan for you.
