Baby teeth do just as many things as adult teeth, and more. From our last post, we know that our teeth let us smile, eat, and speak. For young children, the importance of all this is magnified because they are in a period of growth and learning. So without teeth, they won’t be able to eat well to grow well, and they won’t be able to learn to speak properly. All very sad isn’t it 🙁
Baby teeth also help the jaws to grow and maintain the space for the adult teeth that will eventually replace them. It is no surprise that early loss of baby teeth can sometimes have detrimental effects – both physically and psychologically!
